Reelectionist Senator Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV on Friday thanked his supporters who rallied behind him and fellow senatorial candidates in the ‘Otso Diretso’ opposition coalition.
Aquino assured his supporters he was alright even though the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has yet to declare the winners in the 2019 midterm elections.
“Hello everyone! I wanted to make my first public statement after the counting finished, but since so many friends are asking how I am, I just want to tell everyone out there that I’m ok!” Aquino said in his Twitter post.
“Please continue praying for me, better yet, please continue praying for and loving our country,” the senator added.
Aquino has been edged out of the winning circle as of the latest Comelec count. The senator’s ranking as administration-backed candidates dominated the top 12 slots.
“Hindi mauubos ang pagmamahal ko sa ating mga kababayan maganda man o hindi ang resulta ng eleksyon. Love love love and gratitude to all those sending their messages of support!” he further said in his social media account.
Among the eight candidates of the Otso Diretso team, only Aquino and former Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II have any chance of making it to the top 12.
However, latest partial and unofficial tally of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) showed Aquino languishing in 14th slot, while Comelec’s official and partial tally shows him landing in the 12th spot.
Roxas, on the other hand, has landed in the 16th slot on both the PPCRV and Comelec count.
