DAET, Camarines Norte – Re-electionist Camarines Norte governor Edgardo Tallado has been proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) after getting the highest number of votes against opponents, former Camarines Norte Representative Catherine “Cathy” Barcelona Reyes and BP Balmeo.
Tallado was proclaimed by the board of canvasser chaired by Comelec Bicol assistant regional director Atty. Romeo Serrano at around 12:30 noontime on Thursday.
The incumbent governor got 149,002 votes against 104,635 for Barcelona Reyes and 1,734 for BP Balmeo.
Tallado is facing a disqualification case after Comelec en banc issued a resolution on May 9 , 2019, favoring the petition of Norberto B. Villamin and Senandro M. Jalgalado.
The next day, Tallado got a Status Quo Ante Order from the Supreme Court, a way to continue his candidacy.
In his message, Tallado thanked those who supported him despite negative issues thrown his way. He vowed to realize all he had promised during the campaign, especially the construction of a wharf at the shore of Bagasbas Beach which according to him will invite more tourists in the province.
Meanwhile, Tallado’s wife Josie was also proclaimed as elected Representative of the 1st District of Camarines Norte. She was proclaimed at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday night after garnering 65,013 votes against opponent, Renato Unico with only 56,295 votes and Philip Penaflor with only 3,655 votes. #MatalinongBoto2019
