Reelectionist Senators Nancy Binay and Paolo “Bam” Aquino are barely hanging on the 12th spot in the senatorial race dominated by the administration’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Based on early canvassing conducted by the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Binay and Aquino took the 11th and 12th spots.
The NBOC was able to canvass so far 34 certificates of canvass as of Tuesday night.
According to initial canvassing, Binay managed to get 2,366,035, while, Aquino got 2,335,724.
Reelectionist Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, who also ran under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago. is slowly catching up at 13th place with 2,292,264 votes.
The only other non-Hugpong ng Pagbabago candidate in the top 12 is senatorial candidate Lito Lapid who is seeking a return to the Senate under the banner of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
