Clad in white, incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada voted at a school in Sta. Mesa Manila on Monday morning.
Estrada arrived at the P. Burgos Elementary School at around 11:00 a.m.
His precinct number was 2591B, located on the ground floor of the New Intermediate Building B of the school.
He managed to smoothly cast his votes.
Estrada said that he was confident in securing a third term as Manila’s chief executive.
The city mayor said that he wore all-white because he was hoping for clean midterm elections.
Estrada also replied on his mayoral rival Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso’s criticism of city hall’s failure to collect trash.
“Ano bang nagawa niya? Naka tatlong term siya bilang vice mayor wala naman siyang nagawa, ” Estrada said.
The incumbent mayor also said denied the existence of political dynasties.
“There is no dynasty. Dynasty is inherited, it’s the people who decide. The voice of the people is the voice of God,” he said.
Estrada’s daughter, Jerika, accompanied by his brothers Jacob and Jake, also cast her vote at the same school.
Jerika is running for councilor in the fourth district of the nation’s capital.
Jerika also explained that her father, Estrada did not pressure her into running.
She also admitted that she fell into depression after her father was ousted from Malacañang.
Minutes after Estrada voted, his wife, Loi Estrada, also arrived at the same precinct to vote.
She said his husband was capable of running City Hall even at the age of 82, and assured Manileños that he will give his best on his last term.
