The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) has urged senatorial candidates to clarify their position on the issue of contractualization.

The TUCP was referring to the senatorial candidates of Hugpong ng Pagbabago, Otso-Diretso, and Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

“The TUCP challenges these three major political parties to come clean on whether their candidates if elected, will put an end to contractualization or not. Their silence on the issue 3 weeks to election day is deafening,” said TUCP President Raymond Mendoza.

Mendoza said that the candidates should “clarify, elucidate, and educate the workers on their position on ENDO (end-of-term contracts) and contractualization.”

“These senatoriables have a duty to let an estimated nine million contractual workers know what’s in store for them should they be elected,” said Mendoza.

“We can no longer stand by to watch the election of men and women absolutely clueless as to the spiritual, financial and moral violence imposed on workers and their families as a result of epidemic-scale contractual work,” he added.
