Authorities are still conducting a search and rescue operation for 19 missing individuals reported missing after the powerful earthquake that struck Monday afternoon caused a supermarket building in Porac, Pampanga to collapse, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said.
In an advisory, the PRC said 59 injured people from the supermarket were rushed to the Jose Sungco District Hospital in Porac.
“As of 9 p.m. April 22, there were 12 reported aftershocks, 59 individuals were brought to Jose Sungco District Hospital in Porac, Pampanga because of the injuries they sustained; and authorities are still conducting search and rescue for 19 missing individuals,” PRC said.
The supermarket building has four storeys. Authorities believe that the missing individuals were trapped there.
PRC has already dispatched nine ambulances, and at least 30 personnel and volunteers in the area.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has sent members of its Public Safety Division to aid in the rescue operation.
