Malacañang said that President Duterte skipped the Boao Economic Forum for Asia because he was overworked from his punishing schedule.
In a statement Monday evening, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President was also in Davao City when the strong earthquake hit Luzon also Monday.
“He was in his Davao residence when the earthquake struck. He is not feeling well due to his punishing schedule and successive campaign sorties,” he said, adding that is also the same reason for his absence in the Boao Forum.
“Yup that’s the reason. Overworked,” he added in a separate text message.
Duterte was supposed to deliver a keynote speech at the forum which will host 300 Filipino and Chinese business leaders to explore investment opportunities in the two nations.
Duterte had skipped the PDP-Laban proclamation rally at the Crocodile Park Grounds in Barangay Ma-a, Davao City last month. It was reported that the President was suffering from migraine back then.
Early this month, Duterte also skipped the PDP-Laban proclamation rally in Marawi City but Malacañang denied that it was because of health reasons.
“Nope [he is not unwell], since the event was canceled and he had been working non-stop with events, meetings, and other activities, he divided to take it easy and pored over some papers while resting,” Panelo had said.
