Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle has asked the youth to “live in truth.”
He said this as he lamented how some people live on the contrary.
As an example, the cardinal cited those who use other people’s name in social media.
“Its saddening even in social media there are those who use different names. If you are truthful, use your own name…you are a coward if you are hiding your identity,” said Tagle during the commemoration of the Lord’s passion at the Manila Cathedral.
And because these people do not use their real name, he said they have no qualms in criticizing nor maligning others.
His Eminence said even he himself is a victim of this. He said he discovered that he has four Facebook accounts in his name which he didn’t create.
“You also have a name why borrow mine? That is identity theft,” said Tagle.
Last year, he said he also became a victim of fake news when he was reported to have died.
“Somebody sent me a post saying I died. It says I died at Cardinal Santos Hospital surrounded by my parents and loved ones and that I left this world peacefully,” Tagle said.
He said the youth should not follow such as for example and to emulate only Jesus who always think of others before Himself.
“Jesus will save others and not Himself. For other people it’s the opposite,” Tagle said.
“To the youth, start living with dignity today…if you are at fault admit it. Don’t point fingers at others who will be made to suffer because of your lies. I will be very sad if the Filipino youth will be like those who resort to alibis,” he added.
