A man was rescued while four others went missing when a motorized banca they were riding suddenly capsized in San Andres, Catanduanes Holy Thursday night.
Police identified the survivor as Francis Rogas, 31, while the names of the four missing passengers have yet to be determined.
Initial investigation revealed that the passengers were sailing off the waters of Boroc-Boroc, Brgy. Lubas, San Andres around 7:30 p.m. when the banca was hit by strong waves.
The passengers then lost their balance and were thrown off the water, police said.
Rogas managed to swim to the shore and reported the incident to the police.
Police have yet to determine where the passengers came from and where they were headed to before the accident.
The San Andres Municipal Police Station immediately coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) for a search and rescue operation.
