Iloilo City—A bus incident killed a woman and injured 39 others in Bago City, Negros Occidental province Monday.
The lone casualty has been identified as Ana May De Claro, a 28-year-old resident of Ma-ao village.
A report from the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) said the incident occurred around 1 p.m. when a Ceres bus owned by Vallacar Transit Inc. was carrying 40 passengers from Bacolod City to Bago City.
The police report indicated that bus driver Aimer Paso lost control when it reached Pacol village. This led the bus to zigzagged until it fell on its right side.
De Claro was killed on the spot after she was squeezed underneath the bus and it took rescuers a while before she was taken out.
The injured were taken to the nearest hospital with reports claiming they are in critical condition.
This is the second time in a period of a month that a Ceres bus was involved in an incident.
Last March 25, four people were killed when a Ceres bus fell off a ravine in San Carlos town.
