Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), a firm of business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan, disowned Probe Data Processing and Research Services (PDPRS), which was tagged in undertaking a mayoral survey in the City of Manila.
MPIC Vice President for Legal Ricardo Pilares III said that Metro Pacific is not associated with PDPRS.
“Please be informed that Metro Pacific Investments Corporation does not own any company or organization with the name Probe Data Processing and Research Services,” he said.
Another MPIC official echoed the statement and denied conducting a survey in relation to the 2019 mayoralty race in the country’s capital.
“Actually, the initial information we got is that MPIC owned PDPRS. MPIC does not own PDPRS. From the MPIC-level, it also did not commission the said survey,” Melody Del Rosario, MPIC Vice President for Communications, told the Manila Bulletin.
The clarification came over a week after Bambi Purisima, media relations officer of the Manila City Hall, emailed a press release to reporters on Mar. 27, claiming that Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada topped for the third time the mayoral survey conducted by the said organization.
But when sought for a reaction, Purisima stressed that MPIC only commissioned the survey under PDPRS.
“The survey story never said they owned the Probe. It says they commissioned! It’s entirely different world,” he said in a text message.
