Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo and several others face murder charges over the killing of Ako Bicol party-list Representative Rodel Batocabe.
Acting Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon confirmed this Thursday (April 4), saying the Albay City Prosecutor’s Office issued a resolution finding probable cause to indict Baldo with two counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder.
Also facing charges are Christopher Naval, Emmanuel Roselle, Jaywin Babor, Henry Tyson, and Rolando Arimado, while Danilo Luella will be indicted as an accomplice.
Batocabe was a member of the House committees on dangerous drugs, health, energy, tourism, and good government.
He filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor as he intended to run in Daraga in this year’s elections.
But Batocabe and his security escort, SPO1 Orlando Diaz, were shot dead last December 22 when they were about to board their vehicle.
Batocabe had just attended a gift-giving event for seniors in Barangay Burgos in Daraga town when he was attacked.
Both were taken to a local hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
