Tight security in place as PDP-Laban senatorial bets barnstorm Davao today

DAVAO CITY – Tight security will be put in place as around 60, 000 people are expected to converge here for the grand rally of President Duterte’s senatorial bets at the Davao River View Park on C.P. Garcia Highway here Friday night.

Duterte Campaign Team chairman Engr. Arwin Ardon told a press briefing on Thursday that the supporters will be coming from the different parts of the region who are supporters of the administration bets.

Ardon said the president will be campaigning for the candidacy of PDP-Laban bets – former Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go, Maguindanao Cong. Zajid Mangudadatu, former police chief Ronald Dela Rosa, former Presidential Political Adviser Francis Tolentino, and Sen. Koko Pimentel.

Aside from the PDP-Laban candidates, guest senatoriables such as Sen. Cynthia Villar, Sen. Sonny Angara, Sen. JV Ejercito, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, singer Fredie Aguilar and former DILG sec. Raffy Alunan are also expected to attend the rally.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will implement tight security measures to ensure the safety of the spectators as well as the VIPs who will be present during the rally.

DCPO director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum said they will prohibit bags, including plastic bags, inside the event area for security reasons.

Tagum also advised those who will participate in the rally not to bring umbrellas, ball pens and other pointed objects, as well as caps as these will be confiscated.
