A Catholic prelate said that it is important to listen to the voice of the youth, particularly on their ideas on how to improve the country’s condition.
“Mahalagang napapakinggan ang mga tinig ng kabataan. Mahalaga din po yung kanilang punto-de-vista,” said Fr. Kunegundo Garganta, Executive Secretary of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) – Episcopal Commission on Youth in an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas.
[It is important to listen to the voice of the youth. Their point of view is also important.]
Garganta said that during the recent ‘Synod on Youth’ in Vatican City in Rome, Italy, Pope Francis encouraged the youth not to be frightened to voice-out their feelings, experiences, and their dreams for the future.
Garganta added that Pope Francis also encouraged older people and Church leaders to hear out the youth, as the latter are the future of the society.
The prelate also urged the youth to participate in the upcoming national and local elections on May 13 and choose the rightful leaders.
