Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray graced her fans with a homecoming parade in the streets of Manila, months after she was crowned in Bangkok, Thailand last year.
The 25-year old Fil-Australian beauty queen braved the heat and blooms as she wears a Sampaguita-Anahaw inspired modern terno designed by Mak Tumang.
It is her first public appearance after she became everyone’s silver lining and bagged the Miss Universe crown.
The heat of the sun did not stop the fans to cheer for Gray as her float leaves Sofitel grounds in Pasay City.
She raised the Philippine flag and waved her hand to her fans marking her moment along Roxas Boulevard which added color to the festive atmosphere during the homecoming parade.
Taking advantage of a rare opportunity to see the beauty queen, fans also take videos and photos of her showing the outpouring love for Catriona.
The motorcade started from Manila and entered Makati at the corner of Taft Avenue and Senator Gil Puyat Avenue. The parade ended in Glorietta.
Gray’s motorcade turned right at Ayala Avenue and proceeded to the Central Business District bound for EDSA.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s parade float is also inspired by her signature ‘lava walk’.
The float was designed by Fritz Silorio, who also did the float of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
Meanwhile, Mak Tumang shared his Philippine terno creation inspired by the national flower Sampaguita and leaf Anahaw which according to him is “a fitting welcome for the queen.”
Aside from the terno, Tumang also created a flapper-inspired dress for Gray.
