The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday received a request letter from the Quezon City local government asking to move the date of Tandang Sora Intersection and Flyover’s closure to March 1.
MMDA General Manager Jose Arturo Garcia said MMDA, Department of Transportation (DoTr), and key agencies will have a meeting on Thursday regarding the request of Quezon City.
“MMDA has received today the request letter of Quezon City, asking to move the closure of Tandang Sora Bridge. We will have a meeting about this request on Thursday,” he said.
“We will probably release a decision regarding this request after the meeting,” Garcia added.
In a letter dated February 20, Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte asked Garcia to reschedule the closure to March 1 to give ample time for the information dissemination among Quezon City residents.
The Tandang Sora Intersection and Flyover on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City is set to be closed February 23 to pave way for the Metro Rail Transit-7 (MRT-7) construction.
It is expected to be closed until 2020, which will affect over 100, 000 motorists using Commonwealth Ave. and around 3, 000 motorists who usually traverse the Tandang Sora Intersection daily.
