DAVAO CITY – The Government of Spain has offered $50 million or roughly P2.617 billion to support the rehabilitation and recovery of war-torn Marawi City, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) public relations head Adrian Tamayo said.
Tamayo said Spain’s Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Moragas made this announcement during his courtesy call on MinDA secretary Abul Khayr D. Alonto on Monday.
Aside from aid, Tamayo said Moragas discussed the various development efforts of the Spanish government in Mindanao.
He said the aid for Marawi will be set aside for the infrastructure development and social services.
Tamayo said both officials shared mutual interests on the possibility of governmental partnership on agro-economic zones, power infrastructure for Tawi-Tawi, education, culture, and language in the future.
