The rehabilitation work on a 43.5-kilometer national road in Mindanao has been completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently said. The repairs and upgrade cost a billion-peso.
The Valencia – San Fernando – Talaingod – Panabo – Tagum Road, a crucial link between Bukidnon and Davao del Norte, was rehabilitated under a P949-million fund, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said.
The newly-upgraded road traverses through mountainous terrains from Barangay Kalagangan in the Municipality of San Fernando to Barangay Poblacion in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Its rehabilitation started in March 2015, covering the concreting of the road and improvement of drainage.
With the completion of the rehabilitation, travel time from Bukidnon to Davao del Norte will be reduced by one hour and fifty minutes as motorists no longer have to pass through Sayre Highway.
“Tourists and locals, especially farmers transporting agricultural products, can now benefit from the unhampered access between Bukidnon and Davao del Norte,” Villar said.
