The undermanned and underequipped Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) continued its drug-busting ways with the arrest Friday afternoon of a previously apprehended female drug personality and confiscation of P3.4 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Taguig City.
PDEA Director Levi Ortiz identified the suspect as Euela Arguet Rosario alias Mylina or Elay.
During the 5 pm buy-bust operation, the PDEA agents seized four medium sized heat sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 500 grams at Purok 3M.L. Quezon St. Barangay New Lower Bicutan.
The raiding team led by PDEA agent Dennis Parrenas also confiscated an undisclosed amount of marked money and bundles of boodle money.
Ortiz in his report to PDEA Director-general Aaron Aquino said charges of violation of section 5 of article II of Republic Act 9165 are now being readied against the suspect.
PDEA spokesman Derrick Arnold Carreon said Rosario was previously arrested for violation of section 5 in 2012 and was imprisoned for six years.
He expressed extreme alarm that Rosario has been conducting her drug peddling ways in front of an elementary public school in the area.
Carreon asserted the agency will remain undeterred by the baseless criticisms and numerous false bashings in performing its mandated duty as the country’s lead anti-narcotics arm.
He issued the statement after certain sectors chided PDEA for having dishonest PDEA personnel within its ranks.
The PDEA spokesman said the agency’s former Deputy Director-General Ismael Fajardo and 43 others were already dismissed from the agency for their supposed involvement in nefarious drug activities.
“In every organization there are black sheeps. What is important is that the former Deputy Director has been sacked and now is in hiding,’’ Carreon said.
As PDEA public information office (PIO) chief, Carreon explained that it is “within his duty to report the accomplishments submitted by the PDEA agents on operation even those provided by Fajardo’s men.”
