TACLOBAN City – Two cops assigned in Northern Samar and one civilian were nabbed in a buy-bust operation at Brgy. Macabug, Ormoc City, at around 11:50 a.m. Friday morning.
Information disclosed that joint posse of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the Philippine Army apprehended the cops identified as PO1 Ronelo Felizarta, 36, assigned at San Vicente Municipal Police Station, in Northern Samar and a resident of Sitio Lutaw, Brgy. Macabug, Ormoc City, and PO1 Pelboy Lopez, 31, married, presently assigned at Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company and a resident of Brgy. Salvation, Palo, Leyte.
The civilian with them was Ricsan Sale, 29, a resident of Sitio Lutaw, Macabug. Sale is under the CDEU’s watch list.
Purchased from the suspects was one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth P500.
The operatives also recovered a 500-peso bill marked money used in the test buy.
Other confiscated items were four heat- sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, two cellphones and a PNP issued Glock 17 Gen 4 caliber 9mm handgun.
Just last Tuesday, February 12, PSSupt. Armel Gongona, Ormoc City police director, was in Macabug to speak before residents during the City Hall on Wheels program.
He said that the Ormoc police continue to vigilantly run after drug pushers. He said that just because Ormoc has been declared the first city to be cleared of drug in the region does not mean that they will stop looking for “newly identified personalities”.
