The Commission on Elections en banc, sitting as the National Plebiscite Board of Canvassers, again failed to proclaim the result of the February 6 Bangsamoro Organic Law plebiscites, Tuesday.
According to the Comelec NPBOC Secretariat, four Certificates of Canvass from North Cotabato remain pending at their Audit, Tabulation and Encoding groups.
“We have reported that the COC for Kabakan is still pending in audit and Midsayap. And Pigcawayan is pending with the encoding group and Pikit is still pending with tabulation your honor,” Atty. Consuelo Diola said.
Due to this, Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas declared a recess to give their working group time to finish their work.
“Considering the reports of the working group, it is clear we cannot finish the canvassing and audit today. I think we have to declare a recess,” he said.
“Meanwhile the working groups are granted to continue working and any interested party may stay to observe the proceedings,” added Abas.
Earlier, the poll body is eyeing to complete the canvassing of the results in four days.
The NPBOC convened last Thursday but it was only able to adopt as canvassed votes four COCs from Lanao del Norte, as well as from the towns of Aleosan, Carmen, and Tulunan in North Cotabato.
