BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineering Office (DEO) in Eastern Samar is conducting seminars for students interested in knowing more about civil engineering.
Manolo A. Rojas, DEO district engineer said the students are graduating or are on-the-job-training (OJT).
“The district helps expose the students to real work environments and new technologies,” Rojas said.
Students who attended the seminars were sent to DPWH project sites in the province to observe actual field conditions.
Last November and December, two batches of senior high school students of Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track from Guiuan National High School attended the Electrical Safety Seminar and Orientation as part of their 10-day work immersion program.
Rojas considers it a privilege “to impart the knowledge to young aspiring students who might one day pursue the same field of profession.”
“It is our responsibility to share our knowledge to others especially to the next generation who will inherit our vision of providing excellent service to the public. We should give back to the community by assisting the young ones into knowledgeable individuals who can serve the public effectively and efficiently with integrity,” he said.
