Disneyland Paris makes history as the first Disney theme park to officially host an LGBTQ event.
“Diversity and equality are strong values at Disneyland Paris, and each year, we host millions of visitors regardless of their origins, gender or sexual orientation,” a spokesperson for The Walt Disney Company told NBC News. The spokesperson also said that they are committed in fostering a welcoming environment for all of their guests where magic is for everyone.
“Gay Days”, the unofficial gathering of LGBTQ people, is more common in Disney’s American parks, with participants often wearing red shirts for them to be known.
Disneyland Paris’ “Magical Pride” event follows its roots in 2014 as an unofficial event at the European park. Nathan Tunnah, a travel consultant at Greatdays Travel Inc. who also helped in organizing the “Magical Pride” event, has stated that The Walt Disney Company taken over the reins of this event.
Tunnah also said that select rides will be open from 8p.m to 2p.m for this magical event, and also features character meet and greets, musical performances, and a pride-themed “diversity parade.”
