The Department of Health (DOH) advised the public to take extra precautions as the cold weather continues to prevail nationwide.
Health Undersecretary Rolando Enrique Domingo on Wednesday said that cough and colds are most common respiratory illnesses during this type of season.
Domingo said that the best way to protect one’s self from such illnesses is to practice good personal hygiene.
“The cold weather coincides with flu season and other respiratory infections. We urge the public to take care and practice proper hygiene to avoid contracting these communicable diseases,” said the health official.
The DOH also advised the public to wear proper clothing against the cold weather and eat healthy food such as fruits and vegetables to boost the immune system.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the northeast monsoon or ‘amihan’ will continue to prevail in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
