The Duty Free Philippine Corporation (DFPC) said that seafarers can avail of a five-percent discount at the DFPC Fiestamall in Paranaque City.
Through the Seafarer Shopping Privilege Program, seafarers can avail of the discounts on chocolates, liquor, wines, cigarettes, among others.
The program is available to seafarers employed by a DFPC-accredited manning agency.
DFPC Chief Operating Officer (COO) Vicente Pelagio Angala said in a statement that they already accredited 18 manning agencies and “are working aggressively to add more.”
Angala said that seafarers could shop 15 days until after their arrival, and all they have to do is to claim their discount slip from their agency and present it together with seaman’s book at the Customer Registration Counter.
“This is our way of honoring the thousands of seafarers who make the sacrifice to leave their families behind,” said Angala.
“This program will make shopping more affordable so they could bring home more gifts to their loved ones,” he added.
