CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – A retired Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and a charcoal maker died in two separate shooting incidents in the past two days in Ilocos Sur.
Police said Jose Perlas, 74, a retired OFW and resident of Barangay Balaleng Amianance, Bantay, Ilocos Sur was shot by an unidentified suspect in front of his house at about 6:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
The victim was onboard his Honda CR-V (PNR: ZDD 183) that was parked at the shoulder of the southbound lane of the national highway in front of his house when he was shot.
The victim was rushed to Metro Vigan Coop Hospital in Bantay town for medical treatment but the attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Police said that hot pursuit operations against the suspects are ongoing.
Selerino Tacsiat, 65, a charcoal maker and a resident of Barangay Lao-ingen, Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, was shot by unidentified men riding in tandem in Barangay Quimmarayan, Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur on Tuesday.
Police said the victim died on the spot when the suspects shot him twice at close range using an unidentified handgun.
The victim and his live-in partner were riding a tricycle while on their way home when the incident happened.
