Roads in Iloilo City will be fully-accessible during the week-long Dinagyang and Kasadyahan festivals, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
According to DPWH-Iloilo City District Engineer Rodney Gustilo, “there is no ongoing road project within the city, hence tourists are assured that roads are fully-accessible.”
Ongoing road projects outside the city proper, however, will not be suspended because they will not affect flow of traffic during the festivals, Gustilo added.
“Maintenance of our city roads are regularly undertaken by our office to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the weeklong celebration of the Dinagyang Festival and Kasadyahan Festival,” Gustillo said.
The department recently deployed crew to ensure that vital roads in Iloilo City are accessible and in good condition to cater to the local and foreign tourists joining this year’s Dinagyang and Kasadyahan Festivals.
Maintenance crew has been instructed to work on repainting of road lane markings and gutter, installation of signage and de-clogging of drainage systems to ensure that the roads are properly-marked and free from potholes and obstructions for the safety of the public.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard also deployed more than 100 personnel to secure seaports in Iloilo City during the festivals.
