Security guard stabbed dead in Ermita
A security guard was stabbed to death and robbed in Ermita, Manila, early morning Sunday.
The police said Nestor Chiao, 27, a native of San Joaquin, Iloilo City, had multiple stab wounds in the body.
Chiao’s body was discovered by police at around 6:45 a.m. at the ground floor of a condominium construction site on San Marcelino St.
Johnger Chiao, the victim’s brother, said Nestor had told them he had a known enemy last October 2018, so his management decided to transfer him to Quezon City.
“Naikuwento niya sa amin na may nakaaway siya dahil sinita niya na nagnanakaw,” Chiao said.
“Hinugot lang siya dahil walang magbabantay nung building kagabi. Nagtataka kami kung bakit siya binalik doon, eh may nakaaway na nga siya dati doon,” Johnger added.
The victim’s family also found the logbook where Nestor put a record at around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Dandreb Pascua, Chiao’s fellow security guard, said he last saw him alive at around 7 p.m. last Saturday.
Pascua discovered the body lying on his back when he was about to assume his morning shift duty at 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 20.
Meanwhile, the victim’s money was intact but his service firearm, phone and radio were missing.
The body was brought to Archangel Funeral Homes for autopsy and safekeeping. (Erma Edera)
Motorcycle rider dead after hitting electrical post
A motorcycle rider was killed after accidentally hitting an electrical post while driving on Saturday in Pasay City.
The driver was identified by police as Crispin Dotimas Ramis, 38 years old and a resident of Marinduque St., Pitogo Gaudalupe, Makati City. Ramis died while undergoing medication at the Parañaque Doctors Hospital.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 3:15 in the afternoon along C-5 Extension, Pasay City. Police said that Ramis was driving a Suzuki Raider Motorcycle.
They said that he was travelling along C-5 Extension, Pasay City from west heading to east and while driving, the front portion of his motorcycle accidentally hit the concrete electric post.
Due to the force of impact, the rider fell on the pavement and sustained physical injuries. He was then rushed to the Parañaque Doctors Hospital by responding personnel of the Kalayaan Police Community Precinct for medical treatment.
He was declared dead by the attending physician at around 7:58 in the evening. His vehicle is now under the custody of the Pasay City Vehicular Traffic Investigation Section for safekeeping. (Dhel Nazario)
6 drug peddlers nabbed in Manila
Six alleged drug peddlers were arrested in separate drug sting operations conducted by Manila police over the weekend.
First to fall in the hands of Jose Abad Santos Police Station (PS-7) were Eliseo Loque, 46, of Navotas; Richard Balacano, 34 of Valenzuela; Cherryleen Franco, 39; Carlos Umali, 42; Lora Dela Cruz, 36—all residents of Tondo, Manila.
Police operatives of Jose Abad Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspects along Railroad Track corner New Antipolo Street, Tondo Manila at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 19.
Recovered from the suspects were 10 sachets of suspected shabu.
Two hours after, PS-7 anti-illegal drug operatives conducted a sting against Dione Hernandez, 40, single along Lico Street Tondo, Manila Barangay 210, Zone 19 District II on January 19 at around 10:40 p.m.
Recovered from his possession were four sachets of suspected shabu.
Reports said that Hernandez allegedly resisted arrest during a buy-bust operation conducted by policemen.
A case for Violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, slight physical injury and direct assault is being prepared for filing before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office against Hernandez.
The other nabbed drug personalities will be facing drug-related charges. (Erma Edera)
Caloocan buy-bust nets 4 drug suspects
Four drug suspects were nabbed in an anti-illegal drug bust at Barangay 177, Camarin, Caloocan City on Saturday evening.
Arrested were Kristian Mark Tayao, alias ‘Kamote,’ 31; Michael Isla, alias ‘Mike,’ 29; both residents of the area; Maritess Almare, alias ‘Karell,’ 32, resident at Tata Andreas Street, Parada, Valenzuela City; and Clarice Ordejon, alias ‘Clang,’ 21, resident of Caypombo, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
Elements of the Caloocan City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the buy-bust along Zabarte Road corner Camarin Road in Caloocan City at about 11:30 p.m.
According to a report, the four were collared after a poseur buyer bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 from Isla.
Retrieved from the suspects were 10 sachets of suspected shabu and P500 buy-bust money.
The suspects and retrieved pieces of evidence were brought to the Northern Police District Crime Laboratory Office for drug testing and laboratory examination.
The suspects, who are now under police custody, will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
