Security guard stabbed dead in Ermita

A security guard was stabbed to death and robbed in Ermita, Manila, early morning Sunday.

The police said Nestor Chiao, 27, a native of San Joaquin, Iloilo City, had multiple stab wounds in the body.

Chiao’s body was discovered by police at around 6:45 a.m. at the ground floor of a condominium construction site on San Marcelino St.

Johnger Chiao, the victim’s brother, said Nestor had told them he had a known enemy last October 2018, so his management decided to transfer him to Quezon City.

“Naikuwento niya sa amin na may nakaaway siya dahil sinita niya na nagnanakaw,” Chiao said.

“Hinugot lang siya dahil walang magbabantay nung building kagabi. Nagtataka kami kung bakit siya binalik doon, eh may nakaaway na nga siya dati doon,” Johnger added.

The victim’s family also found the logbook where Nestor put a record at around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Dandreb Pascua, Chiao’s fellow security guard, said he last saw him alive at around 7 p.m. last Saturday.

Pascua discovered the body lying on his back when he was about to assume his morning shift duty at 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 20.

Meanwhile, the victim’s money was intact but his service firearm, phone and radio were missing.

The body was brought to Archangel Funeral Homes for autopsy and safekeeping. (Erma Edera)
