The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP Sunday said it was one with the whole nation in celebrating another victory by the country’s “Pambansang Kamao” Senator and Reserved Army Colonel Manny Pacquiao against Adrien Broner.
In a statement, AFP Public Affairs chief Colonel Noel Detoyato, said that, in his latest triumph in defending the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title, Pacquiao did not only demonstrate the Filipino’s natural trait of strength and courage, but also showed the world how determined, disciplined and hardworking the Filipinos are, just like his comrades in the AFP.
“Our soldiers are proud and inspired not only by the performance Senator Manny Pacquiao demonstrated in the ring, but as well as the humility he manifested despite his triumphant win,” Detoyato said.
“The whole Armed Forces is all out in its support to our boxing champion. His discipline, dedication, and hard-work continue to inspire our soldiers to do the same in the exercise of their duties and the fulfillment of their mandates to our country,” he added.
Meanwhile, Detoyato said AFP Chief of Staff General Benjamin Madrigal, Jr., has already sent his congratulations to Pacquiao.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Armed Forces, please extend our congratulations to Senator Manny. I hope we can invite him here at GHQ to celebrate his victory,” Madrigal said.
“The real heart of a champion, the heart of a Filipino soldier and warrior. Our deepest respect,” he added.
