Mother of alleged ‘bully’ kid apologizes, asks understanding for son’s actions

The mother of the alleged “bully” student of Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) has apologized to the public for the actions made by her son.

In an interview by GMA News last Jan. 9, the mother also asked for the understanding of the public since her son is “still a kid.”

However, the student explained his actions and said he was just also defending himself. Asked if what he did was wrong, he said he should not have reacted that violently.

“Para sakin hindi naman bullying ‘yung ginawa ko because I was also defending myself naman in a way kaso nga lang in the video, mukhang ako talaga ‘yung mas aggressive. Pero before that hindi naman nila alam yung nangyari,” he said.

According to him, the “bullied” kid was the first one to provoke him which sparked the commotion.

“Nung last period, sabi niya gusto niya raw makipagsuntukan. Sabi ko, ‘Sige mamayang dismissal.’ Ta’s nung dismissal nga ‘yun, pumunta kami sa cr ta’s umihi siya, tapos nagsasalita ako, ta’s ‘yung nangyari [nga] sa video.”

In the viral video, the alleged “bully” can be seen kicking and punching another student several times. He said he was just projecting his anger since the problem was supposedly settled already.

He also explained what happened in another video wherein he and another student can be seen exchanging blows. The student said he had issues with his close friend and fought. After that, the two had reconciled.

Another video, set in a canteen, also made rounds in social media. The student said it was meant as a “joke.”

“It was just for fun kaso nga lang it looked bad kaya nagamit nila yun against me,” he added.

The mother said she wished for their lives to be back to normal and for her son to have a second chance.

The Grade 9 student, who was dismissed by Ateneo, is now undergoing counseling with a psychologist.

According to the report, they have yet to get the side of the school.
