High-value target nabbed in buy-bust ops in Agusan del Norte

BUTUAN CITY – A suspect tagged as a high-value target was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Monday night conducted by operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 13 and the Jabonga Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Purok 4, Barangay Magsaysay, Jabonga town, Agusan del Norte province, Dindo de G. Abellanosa, Regional Information Officer lll (RIO) of PDEA 13, disclosed Tuesday.

In a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin, PDEA 13 Regional Director Aileen T. Lovitos, identified the arrested suspect as Ernieson “Son” Sangguay, 24 and resident of Barangay Magsaysay, Jabonga town, Agusan del Norte.

Three sachets of suspected shabu weighing a total of three grams and worth over P20,400 were seized in the buy-bust operation conducted at 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

Also seized during the operation was the P1,000 marked money used in the bust.

The suspect, considered as a high value target by PDEA, had been subjected to constant monitoring and surveillance by PDEA 13 agents since 2018 until his arrest on Monday night.

The suspect is scheduled to undergo inquest proceeding for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA9165 at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Agusan del Norte where he may elect to execute waiver of Rule 125 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended and to move for the immediate conduct of preliminary investigation pursuant to the provisions of Section 7, Rule 113 of the 2000 Rules on Criminal Procedure, the region’s PDEA 13 RIO added.

Lovitos said the successful series of anti-drug operations in various places in Caraga region could also be attributed to the involvement of the communities in fighting the drug menace.
