DAVAO CITY – The Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) will not approve any application to transport firecrackers and pyrotechnics in the city.
PRO 11 regional director Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales said their Regional Civil Unit – 11 (RCSU – 11) will not issue any permit to transport firecrackers in the city due to the existence of a city ordinance banning such products in the city.
Morales was pertaining to the City Ordinance 060-02, Series of 2002 which prohibits “the Manufacture, Sale, Distribution, Possession or Use of Firecrackers or Pyrotechnic Devices and such other similar devices and the exploding of Firecrackers or other similar explosives within the territorial jurisdiction of Davao City.”
“We will immediately disapprove in the application stage,” he said.
He said anyone who will violate the ordinance will face charges, and will be fined by the court if found guilty.
Based on the ordinance, any violator could be fined as much as P5,000 or face six months imprisonment.
He said they will not also allow that the city to be used as transhipment point of firecrackers that will be transported from one province to another without police supervision.
Morales said traders from other areas can still get a permit, but they need to specify the area or point of delivery because they will be escorted by police mobiles.
