Before the year ends, the government’s second biggest revenue-generating agency has announced that its collection district in Cebu was able to exceed its 2018 revenue target.
According to the Bureau of Customs, the Port of Cebu collected P26.761 billion as against its P24.902-billion revenue goal as of November.
This translates to a surplus of P1.859 billion or a positive deviation of 7.46 percent during the 11-month period.
The Cebu port headed by district collector and lawyer Elvira Cruz has been meeting its monthly target from January to November this year.
Cruz set her sight to also surpass the December target even as her port already exceeded the 2018 target by P370.78 million as of Dec. 12.
The Port of Cebu generated P27.806 billion in revenues, higher than its collection target of P27.436 billion for the year.
Cruz said the subports of Mactan and Dumaguete were the major contributors to the Cebu port’s positive revenue performance in 2018.
