The Indigenous Peoples (IPs) held their peaceful rally from the Libertad Sports Complex to Guingona Park in Butuan City to express also their support for the government’s peace and development program.

PRO 13 Regional Director Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz said the IPs, composed mainly of Manobo, Mamanwa, and Higaonon tribes from Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and other tribal groups gathered to express their support for the Duterte administration and to strongly condemn the ruthless acts of the CPP-NPA.

“They (natives) condemned the extortion, recruitment of minors and other terroristic activities of the CPP-NPA,” the region’s police chief said.

“They stood up mustering their courage so that their voices will be heard by the public against the communist terrorists,” Chief Supt. Cruz said.

The peaceful rally of the IPs was in line with the International Human Rights Day.

A certain “Tatay Boom,” an alleged former officer of Guerilla Front 21 of the CPP-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee, also recognized the effort of the government in ensuring that the programs and services are being delivered to the grassroots benefitting IPs.
