DAVAO CITY – Police authorities have banned a barangay kagawad, even as a municipal councilor was able to elude arrest in anti-illegal drugs operations conducted in Davao Occidental last Wednesday.
Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) spokesperson Chief Insp. Jason L. Baria said Barangay Butulan councilor Mark Seteota was arrested in a dawn raid at his residence, conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by a Saranggani Province Regional Trial Court judge.
Seized from him were six sachets containing substance believed to be shabu.
At almost the same time, authorities also launched an operation to search the residence of Jose Abad Santos municipality councilor Jessel Atay in Barangay Caburan. However, the suspect was not there.
The police were nevertheless able to confiscate four plastic packets of shabu from Atay’s residence.
Seteota and Atay were included in President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s watch list of government officials involved in the illegal drug trade in Davao Occidental.
