Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he will direct the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the killing of the lawyer of the families of the nine slain farm workers in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Guevarra said the killing of lawyer Benjamin Tarug Ramos, the secretary general of the National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL) Negros Occidental Chapter, could be included in the NBI’s ongoing investigation of the massacre of the nine farm workers.
The Secretary said he will “direct the NBI to include (the lawyer’s murder) if there any indications that the incident is related to the previous killings.”
Ramos, 56, was killed Tuesday night in Kabanlakan by motorcycle-riding suspects.
