The Diocese of Balanga in Bataan will launch the Year of the Youth with a pilgrimage walk to Mount Samat in the town of Pilar on December 1.
“Our diocese will welcome the Year if the Youth with our annual diocesan youth pilgrimage to Mount Samat in the town of Pilar. Papal Nuncio Gabriele Giordano Caccia will walk with us and will celebrate the Holy Eucharist. The launching of the observance coincides with the 9th Central Luzon Youth convention and pilgrimage on November 28 to December 2 which is being hosted by the diocese,” said Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos.
“It is going to be a very meaningful and memorable day for all the young participants. It is a blessing for us to have the gracious presence of the Apostolic Nuncio who will be joined by the diocesan youth ministries of Central Luzon,” the bishop said.
“In preparation for the event, we have issued pastoral reflections encouraging our young people not to give up, and to always get up and go on. Being young, they might encounter people who doubt their capacity or people who fail them but we urge the young generation not succumb to failures, but to rise and show their skills and talents. Young people are very creative, imaginative, and full of life. Even if they experience being taken for granted, they should not lose their dreams, their passion and continue to do good,” the Church leader said.
The Year of the Youth is part of the nine-year spiritual journey of the Catholic Church in preparation for the 500th year of Christianity in the country in 2021.
Meanwhile, Santos said the Diocese of Balanga pauses at 10 a.m. every day to pray the Hail Mary in thanksgiving to God for all His blessings including the canonical coronation of the Our Lady of Pillar last October 10. (Christina I. Hermoso)
