BUTUAN CITY – Three mild tectonic earthquakes were recorded in the Pacific Ocean facing Surigao del Sur Monday morning the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Meantime, a magnitude 6 earthquake jolted parts of Lanao del Sur Sunday afternoon.
Philvolcs said the quake struck at around 3:55 p.m., tracing the epicenter about a kilometer northwest of Balindong, a lake-shore town in Lanao del Sur.
The three tremors in Surigao del Sur did not cause serious or major injury and damage to property, the state agency said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 3.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 7:26 a.m.
Its epicenter was plotted 72 kilometers (km) northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur province.
Earlier, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake was also registered at 7:20 a.m. today.
The epicenter was traced 43 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan.
A magnitude 3.6 tremor was also recorded at 7:09 a.m., with its epicenter 76 kilometers northeast of that same town.
The state agency did not raise a tsunami alert following the three earthquakes.
