Four suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were arrested by the military and police in Maguindanao province on Tuesday.
Captain Arvin Encinas, Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6 ID) spokesman, said the arrested BIFF members are under the leadership of Datu Parido Balabagan, alias “Commander Banog.”
Encinas said the four were caught in Barangay Lumabao, General SK Pendatun, Maguindanao, about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
It was learned that security forces from the Army’s 33rd Infantry Battalion (33IB), under Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc; the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM); and the 4th Special Action Battalion made the arrest.
However the names of the four BIFF members have been withheld by the military for the meantime.
Confiscated from them were two M-14 rifles, two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and three grenades.
At present, the four are in the custody of the CIDG-ARMM, pending the filing of criminal charges against them.
