David running again this time for Senate in May 2019 midterm polls

By Leslie Ann Aquino

He aspired for the presidency in 2016 and for senator in 2013.

Rizalito David is again running this time for the senate in the May 2019 midterm polls.

The 56-year old David said he filed his certificate of candidacy as he is on a “mission.”

“This is not the first time I’m doing this. If you remember in 2016, we filed our COC for president…but then Comelec decided that we cannot run because we did not have the money,” he said in his speech after filing his COC.

“So, we are doing this again because we are on a mission,” added David.

According to him, the same things continue to ail the society because the people keep electing the same people over and over again.

“We keep electing the same people hoping to have a difference, but sorry there is none. So, what are we going to do?” David asked.

“We have to bring in our faith. We have to give hope to our people, to bring in love more importantly. We failed in this respect,” he added.

As Christians and Catholics, David said there is a need to bring faith at the center of leadership.

“We don’t do this. We say there is separation of Church and State but when are you a citizen of the State and a faithful? There is no difference,” he said.

“And so if we win, we will bring our faith, belief as Catholics in crafting laws and in teaching our countrymen,” added David.

This, he said is because the most important job of a senator is not to craft laws rather teach the people what to do.

“Give direction and vision as what the President should do,” David said.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in December 2015 declared presidential aspirant Rizalito David as a nuisance candidate saying the latter has no bonafide intention to run for the office he seeks to be elected to.

During that time, David of the Ang Kapatiran Party said he should not be declared as a nuisance candidate by the poll body because he represents the Catholic charismatic communities.

David is running as an independent candidate in next year’s polls.
