BALI, Indonesia—It appears that many of the members of President Duterte’s Cabinet are still unsure if they will pursue a bid for public office on next year’s polls.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go made the statement as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) opened their doors for those who want to serve the people for three years starting 2019.

Go told Malacañang reporters in Bali that Duterte is still waiting for all those in his Cabinet who want to run to file their certificate of candidacy so he can appoint their replacement.

“Pinagpipilian na ng Pangulo ‘’yan, iniisip na rin niya ‘yung mga ipapalit niya sa tatakbo (President Duterte is now choosing the people who will replace those who will run for public office next year),” he said.

“Pero marami pang undecided sa mga tatakbo. So hinihintay na lang niyang mag-file itong mga to (But there are still a lot of them who are still undecided. So he’s just waiting for them to make their move),” he added.

Go said that Political Adviser Francis Tolentino will be running for Senate anew after losing in 2016, while Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Cayetano will be running for Congress. Cayetano earlier said that he will also be aiming for the House Speakership to help the Duterte administration reach its goals.

Meanwhile, Go said that Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) head Guiling Mamondiong and Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco are running for the gubernatorial spot in their respective hometowns.

Go, however, said that Evasco is still contemplating if he will run, the same for Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque whose current position in the Duterte administration was handed over to Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo.

In his case, Go said that he is still thinking about his political career. He said that he is waiting for an enlightenment from God before making a decision.

“Pinag-iisipan ko pa. Naghihintay ako ng enlightenment sa Panginoon (I’m still thinking about it. I’m still waiting for an enlightenment from God),” he said.

Meanwhile, Go said that the public will be informed of the new members of Duterte’s Cabinet once those who want to run have already filed their certifcate of candidacy.

“Si Presidente na po ang bahala, mamimili kung sino ang papalit (It’s up to the President who will he pick to join his Cabinet),” he said.
