Lawyer Larry Gadon, who gained popularity for his “Hindi sila bobo” (The people are not stupid) videos on social media, filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for senator on Friday.
Gadon is also known for filing an impeachment complaint against former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Gadon calls his “Hindi sila bobo” battlecry effective because it conveys his message to the public, particularly to the millennials.
“It’s very effective. If you will visit my Facebook and even the Facebook accounts of many people, the students, the millennials, are carrying my message na hindi na bobo ang mga tao ngayon (the people now are not stupid),” he said.
“That’s one of the reasons why I decided to run because I can see that the people, particularly the millennials, supporting me,” he added.
Gadon said that if ever he wins a seat in the Senate, he will focus on issues related to high electricity rates and the high prices of commodities.
He also said that he will support the killing of terrorists, including children who are involved in terrorism.
When asked to explain his statement, Gadon said: “ Basta terrorista. They have to be exterminated.”
Oops, wrong form
Meanwhile, Gadon’s filing of CoC did not go smoothly after he reportedly used the wrong form, prompting him to re-file his CoC.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said that Gadon initially filled out the wrong form.
“The form that he submitted in the first instance was not the form he should not submitted,” said the Comelec official.
But when asked if he had accomplished a wrong form, Gadon explained: “Kinulang ng picture, photo… Wala naman. Hindi naman nila tatanggapin pag mali yung form, (It lacked a photo; they (Comelec) will not accept it if it is the wrong form),” he said.
