Reelectionist Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III was the first to file his certificate of candidacy Thursday.
Pimentel arrived at the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros, Manila at past 8 am together with his fiance Kathryn Yu.
In an interview, the senator said he decided to seek reelection because he still has an unfinished business to be pursued in the Senate.
Pimentel said he also filed on the first day of the filing due to his upcoming wedding.
“This is so I can already get this off my mind and be able to focus on my wedding next week,” said the senator.
Asked when his party mates in PDP Laban would file their COCs, he answered, “Let’s just wait for them.”
He said there are at least six candidates who are also expected to file.
Pimentel said he and his party mates agreed to file individually since some of them are still undecided while others have to attend to personal matters.
The filing of COCs is from October 11 to 17 except Saturday and Sunday.
