CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – The Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration (E-CLIP) program was launched on Tuesday in areas under the jurisdiction of the 903rd Infantry Brigade in Masbate.
The E-CLIP launching at the Magallanes Coliseum in Masbate City was graced by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
During the activity, 98 former rebels from Masbate and 24 others from Sorsogon recieved financial assistamce from the local government and from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), under the E-CLIP.
Aside from the financial aid, the Department of Agriculture (DA) distributed at least 400 ducks while the Technological Education and Skills Development Agency (TESDA) turned over welding machines to the rebel returnees.
One of the former rebels shared that he believes that now is the time to end the war between the government and New People’s Army (NPA) because it won’t bring progress to the community.
He stressed that he and his fellow rebel returnees are supporting the government’s efforts to resolve the insurgency problem nationwide.
He also thanked the government for helping them live normal lives anew.
