Cardiologist Dr. Willie Ong said that he will push for affordable medicines and medical operations, particularly for the poor, as he filed his certificate of candidacy for senator Thursday.
“Gusto kong tumulong sa maraming pasyente,” said Ong as he spoke to the media after he filed his COC at the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros, Manila.
Ong, who is under Lakas-CMD, said that he will push for cheaper medicines, while simple medical operations for goiter, gall bladder, myoma, among others will be for free.
“With this, we can save thousands of lives,” he said.
Ong said that he does not have enough financial mechanisms for his campaign activities but said that it will not stop him to pursue his candidacy.
“Wala akong perang mag campaign… Ang kakaiba sa akin, kung meron man magbibigay ng pera hindi ko mailalagay sa mga TV ads kasi conscience ko… Ibibigay ko nalang sa mahihirap,” he said.
