Papal Nuncio Gabrialle Giordano Caccia will lead the canonical coronation of Our Lady of Pillar in Morong, Bataan at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A canonical coronation is a liturgical practice of the Roman Catholic Church with the approval of the Holy Father with his papal bull issued by the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos said, “the canonical coronation is a gracious gift of the Holy Father Pope Francis to the Diocese of Balanga. It is God’s grace to Bataan. The faith of devotees of Our Lady will be stronger and livelier and many will be inspired to keep and maintain their devotion to our Blessed Mother, and to foster more filial devotion to her,” Santos said.
The ceremony will be witnessed by provincial government officials, Church leaders, and members of the clergy from other dioceses.
The parish church was founded by the Augustinian recollects in 1607.
Meanwhile, Bishop Santos led a concelebrated holy mass at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila at 4 p.m. Tuesday where the incorrupt heart of Saint Padre Pio is on display for public veneration until Wednesday.
“The holy mass of the Diocese of Balanga was for the success of today’s canonical coronation,” said Santos as he enjoined the faithful to “have a heart like that of Padre Pio – a heart that listens, obeys, and suffers with love and forgiveness.”
