INABANGA, Bohol–The construction of the P50 million flood control project along the Inabanga River is about to start.
A statement from the local government of Inabanga on Monday said the project will benefit primarily barangay Poblacion and other barangays near the river.
The project will help ease the threats of flooding in the town.
The project was funded through the 2018 Regular Infrastructure Target of the national government, Inabanga spokesman Frank Baylosis said in a statement.
An ocular inspection of the project site was conducted recently, Baylosis added.
Moreover, the project is among those lined up by the national government to help ease the problem of flooding in many parts of thye country.
Baylosis said Inabanga town is located in the mouth of the Inabanga River.
Inabanga River is the largest river basin in Bohol that has 17 tributaries in upland towns.
The river has the tendency to overflow which threatens the communities living along the banks of the river, Baylosis said.
Moreso, the project is a way to mitigate disaster-related incidents, which has been the town’s priority, the spokesman concluded.
