Police Regional Office 2 deployed enough PNP personnel for Search, Rescue and Relief Operation in Cagayan and Isabela provinces in case of any eventualities.
Chief Supt .Jose Mario Espino, PRO2 director said a total of 1,700 SAR-trained personnel were deployed in Cagayan to give assistance during the height of typhoon Ompong, 30 of which (WPS) were dispatched to the DSWD and PDRRMC Cagayan to augment in case the said agencies need assistance for repacking of relief goods.
While another group of more or less 30 teams from the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) and separate teams from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion are on standby for deployment as the need arises.
Meanwhile, Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade who was present during the predeployment, said that Relief Operations team led by Presidential Adviser Francisco Tolentino will be monitoring Cagayan and Isabela and other places affected by the said typhoon.
“Ipinadala kami ng ating Pangulong Rodrigo R Duterte dito sa Cagayan Valley upang makipagcoordinate sa local na pamahalaan ng Cagayan at Isabela at upang imonitor ang epekto ng bagyo,” Layunin ng aming pag iikot ay upang magbigay ng tulong sa mga kababayan nating direktang apektado ng bagyo,” Tugade added.
Also present during the activity were Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba, Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro, brigade commander, 502nd Brigade, 5ID, PA and other concerned agencies.
