Donna Magno, chief of the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said the 39 families consisted of 160 individuals from Barangays Zone 1A-Boulevard and West Habog-Habog in Molo District.

The fire hit what is considered to be a slum area, where many houses stand on stilts and are made of light materials.
While no one was killed, Magno said six people were injured.

The fire was contained with the combined units of the Bureau of Fire (BFP) from Iloilo City and the towns of Zarraga, Oton, Sta. Barbara, San Miguel, and Pavia; and volunteer fire brigades of Federation Fire and Iloilo Citizens Action Group (ICAG).

Meanwhile, initial assessment found that the fire that hit 38 houses resulted in P1.2 million in damages.
