230 percent additional pay for those who will work on August 21

Those who will report for work on August 21 shall be paid 230 percent of their salary for that day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced Thursday in its labor advisory citing the commemoration of the Ninoy Aquino Day, a special non-working day, and the observance of Eid’l Adha, a regular holiday.

    The advisory, signed by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, stated that “For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on a special day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her daily rate of 200 percent.”

    The other prescribed pay rules are the following:

    • For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work) on the said day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate. (Hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200% x 130% x 130% x number of hours worked).
    • For work done on the said day which is also the rest day of the employee, workers shall be paid an additional 50 percent of his/her daily rate on the first eight hours of work [ (daily rate + COLA) x 200%] + [50% (daily rate x 200%]
    • For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work) on the said day which is also the rest day of the employee, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on said day. (Hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200% x 150% x 130% x number of hours worked)
    • If the employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100 percent of his/her salary for that day [(daily rate + COLA) x 100%]

    The rules for pay was released pursuant to Proclamation Nos 269 and 556 issued by President Duterte on July 17, 2017 and August 15, 2018, respectively.
